How to calculate lumpsum investment growth

A lumpsum investment is a single contribution. Enter the starting amount, a whole number of years, and an assumed annual return rate. Annual compounding means each year's growth is added to the balance for the next year.

Formula

Future value = principal × (1 + annual rate ÷ 100)ʸᵉᵃʳˢ

Example

A one-time investment of 1,000 at an assumed annual return of 10% for two years grows to 1,210, including 210 in estimated returns.

Assumptions and limits

This projection assumes a constant annual return and no withdrawals. Fees, taxes, and inflation are excluded, and actual returns vary.
